All-flash arrays (AFAs) address the demand for scaling storage performance to handle today’s intensive data-access traffic; they belong to a new category of enterprise-storage systems comprised of flash memory, or solid-state drives (SSDs). SSDs can process tens of thousands of random I/O requests per second, far more than conventional hard disk drives (HDDs). SSDs are also more energy efficient, and latency is lower too. These advantages make AFAs the better storage choice.
AccelStor’s FlexiRemap technology is software that is based on the fundamentals of flash memory. It has been awarded Best-of-Show Technology Innovation at Flash Memory Summit 2016. Our proprietary algorithm enables AFAs powered by FlexiRemap to meet data-access demands more efficiently than can conventional HDD arrays or RAID systems. FlexiRemap is crucial in speeding up random-write access patterns, which are often a major cause of storage bottlenecks. FlexiRemap ensures that AccelStor storage devices meet the stringent performance demands of mission-critical applications.
FlexiRemap technology adopts an efficient strategy to speed up data processing and accelerate random writes, which comprise most enterprise-data traffic and are a major cause of storage-access bottlenecks. FlexiRemap achieves this by rearranging new data to sequential block addresses before passing it to SSDs for processing. In this way, FlexiRemap reduces the workload of SSDs by enabling them to directly write sequential data into consecutive pages.
